From tragedy to

Hey everyone, we know it has been a while...well a really really long while since we've last updated. We apologize, sometimes life just gets pretty hectic. Everything is back on track now though, and you can look forward to seeing new posts on the regular!

We have both made some pretty awesome friends in Richmond. They keep us on our toes, and inspire us more than they know. Two in particular are Rachel and Harris. Ever since our worlds collided, we've pretty much been inseparable. Here is a cute picture of them goofing off at Maymont from a couple months ago.
Last week the unthinkable happened. Rachel and I were hanging out when Harris called to say that their home was on fire. We rushed to her house to see the entire building engulfed in flames. We both stood there crying and in shock, as over forty firemen tried to save their home. The house consisted of five separate apartments, where nine people lived. Three of the people that lived there, including Harris, were on tour with their band over nine hours away. Luckily one person was home, Oliver, who busted down Rachel and Harris' door to save their cat and dog.

All nine residents lost pretty much everything they owned. The fire took the entire building, and the water hoses destroyed the rest. The community has been so amazing in helping out everyone. There were countless benefits, fundraisers, donations from local businesses, and help from the Red Cross. I helped house Rachel, Harris, and their dog June until they found a new apartment, and donations were constantly being dropped off at my house. Almost $6000 in cash was raised for the nine residents, and people donated more clothes, books, appliances etc. than I could ever have imagined. I am so proud to say that I live in such an amazing city, where the community is truly there for each other!

Both Rachel and Harris wanted something to remember this by, so we ventured down to their old home and shot this picture.

Rachel, Harris, we love you both and are always here for you. We know that everything is going to be okay, and can't wait to see what new amazing things you do!

Love,
Shawnee & Josh

Thrift Store Amazement

I have such a strong mix of emotions about this blog post. I can't help but feel so very happy for the designer who decided that the only thing that this neon fanny pack was missing was a speaker and sweet radio. Yet at the same time I am so very sorry for whoever it's past owner was and the decision they made to let its amazement leave their life. I guess one man's trash is another man's treasure....awesomely 80's fanny pack radio treasure.

And what's even better is that with an ipod and transmitter hidden inside, you can rock it out on the streets to whatever song your heart desires.

For our first attempt at posting video, here's a quick little look at some of Shawnee's sweet moves. Don't judge.

Belle Isle Fun Promos

So it has been a crazy month and we have gotten behind with the blog, but things are getting back on track now. There will be much more frequent updates coming up, and this time we mean it. To kick things back off, here is a sampling of our fun shoot together at Belle Isle on Saturday. We both happened to have the day off, so it was a perfect opportunity to take some photos for ourselves. Check it out.

Loving the light in this field
Sweet picture ruined by my goofy head
I'm officially an L glass 2.8 addict, there's no going back
And a few outtakes
Check back soon for updates here and on the website. We have lots of fun stuff coming up, go tell your friends.

Chelsea & Chad Hit the Streets

Chelsea and Chad are the perfect example of a young couple in love and were just recently married over the summer. People tell them that its crazy they got hitched after dating for less than a year, but we can see that these two lovebirds are only crazy about each other. They were both super fun, and we had a blast walking the streets together. You can check out their custom page and slide show by clicking here.

Pam & Josh's Wedding

First off, yay for our first post on the new blog! We figured we would start things off with a bang and show everyone some of the awesome memories that were captured earlier this month at Pam and Josh's wedding. Shawnee has known both Pam and Josh since they went to high school together, so we were really excited when they asked us to be a part of their day. Hurricane Hannah posed an immediate threat to the afternoon, but in the end the weather stayed on our side and it was a beautiful event.
